This Sunday, September 15, 2019, is recognized as Catechetical Sunday by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
The 2019 theme will be “Stay with Us.” Those who the Community has designated to serve as catechists will be called forth to be commissioned for their ministry. Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, to live out the 2020 Gulf Coast Faith Formation Conference theme of “2020: His Vision, Our Call”: to see as Christ sees and to respond to our individual and shared calling of handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this mission as a community of faith.
If you visit the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops webpage for Catechetical Sunday, you will find a 2020 Gulf Coast Faith Formation Conference as it contains webinars on “Understanding the Struggles, Lived Realities of the “Nones” from Roy Petitfils, who will be a Breakout Session presenter, and an article, “Ripe for the Harvest,” by Julianne Stanz, who will give one of the keynote addresses on Saturday, January 11th.
Thank you for the time and energy you devote to helping the members of your community to “Stay With Us” and to stay close to the Lord.
Happy Catechetical Sunday!
Why not remind your catechists, teachers, and faith formation leaders in your parish or school to register for the 2020 Gulf Coast Faith Formation Conference this month before the prices increase on October 1?!
