“Proclaiming Hope: Effective Catechetical Leadership for the 21st Century”
Thursday, January 11, 2018
The GO! Conference thanks Loyola Press for their Platinum Sponsorship of Leadership Thursday.
This day is designed for principals, clergy, lay ecclesial ministers, and other leaders in schools and parishes. Today’s catechetical leader faces unparalleled challenges and complexities in proclaiming the Gospel to a world that is often distracted, divided, and despairing. Disciples of Jesus, however, are equipped with a message of hope!
We will begin Leadership Thursday with a Leadership Luncheon, courtesy of Loyola Press. Then, in an interactive session, Verónica Rayas, PhD, and Joe Paprocki, DMin, will identify mindsets and strategies for effective catechetical leadership that will bring hope for the 21st century and beyond.
Verónica Rayas, Ph.D., is the director of the Office of Religious Education in the Diocese of El Paso. She holds a Ph.D. from Fordham University in religious education. Her doctoral thesis, entitled “The Family’s Catechesis: The Mexican American Family as a Place of Catechesis Through Their Spirituality,” focused on the catechetical principles present in the traditions and life of faith of many Mexican American families. She teaches us that the Hispanic family is a privileged place to deliver faith in everyday life. Verónica has extensive experience in various ministries such as catechist, youth ministry, Catholic school teacher, and pastoral associate.
Joe Paprocki, D.Min., has been a catechetical leader and religious educator in the Chicago area for more than thirty years. His books include Living the Mass, The Bible Blueprint, The Catechist’s Toolbox (Loyola Press). He is the National Consultant for Faith Formation at Loyola Press in Chicago. Joe blogs about his work as a catechist at Catechist’s Journey.
