Leading Children to Pray:  Catechist as Pray-er and Model of Hope for the Journey

It’s easy to teach children prayers…the words and phrases that we say.  But how do we pray with children?  Is it just a routine?  Is there a classroom environment that sends a message that prayer is important?  Are prayer experiences prayer-ful?  Children donÂ’t develop a prayer life from a book, but from the example of those adultsÂ…parents and catechistsÂ…who guide them in their faith journey.  This session will provide nourishment for catechists in nurturing the prayer life of their students.

John is a retired elementary school principal, former Director of Curriculum, and elementary school teacher. He is also a former DRE and catechist. John worked with Sadlier in the northeast for many years, and now he is a full-time National Religion Consultant. He is a keynote speaker and presenter at both national and regional congresses. His presentations always bring the practical and realistic to catechesis with his experience as both a professional educator and catechetical leader.
