The Power of Unfounded Hope: A True Story – Fr. Sidney Speaks

January 13, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Power of Unfounded Hope: A True Story

This workshop/talk is a concerted effort to invite the listener into the life and world of someone who dramatically fought the downward pull of hopelessness with the manifested presence of divine grace, which gave birth to a newfound hope. However, the goal of the presentation is to not only recount this powerful journey and epic battle of a soul…but to spark through the Spirit, a sense of one’s own journey of struggle and effort to discover God’s beautiful “unfounded hope”.

Sidney Speaks is a native of Baltimore, and oldest of nine, from the beautiful union of the late Sidney Oscar and Lillie Speaks. At the age of 16, Sidney felt the call of priesthood. Two years later, he entered the Josephite Fathers formation program in New Orleans, LA. After graduating from Xavier University in 1994, he went to Washington, DC, and received the Master of Divinity degree in 1999 from Dominican House of Studies. He was ordained a Josephite priest on Dec. 4, 1999.
